Frequent exposure to sunlight leads to premature skin ageing and enhances the risk of skin cancer incidence and eye damage.
- Therefore, largely avoid exposure to sunlight between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., particularly at high altitudes and in southern countries.
- When exposed to sunlight, use sunglasses with a sufficient UV filter, use a sun hat and wear densly woven clothing.
- Use a sunscreen with sufficiently high protective factor, taking into account your skin type and snow reflection, and reapply the sunscreen every two hours when you are in the open, as the filter wears off under solar irradiance. Always renew sun protection after a swim, a shower or perspiration.
- Bear in mind that shade does not completely protect from UV irradiance. Thin cloud of fog do not significantly reduce UV irradiance.
