Dear colleagues!
The Works Council is the official representative body for academic staff, whose members are elected from their ranks. For civil servants assigned to the service, the Works Council simultaneously fulfills the function of the Departmental Committee in accordance with §9 of the Federal Personnel Representation Act.
The Works Council is not subject to instructions and, as a collegiate body, makes its decisions by a majority of its members. They serve in a voluntary and unpaid capacity.
The task of the Works Council is to represent and promote the economic, social, health, and cultural interests of employees in the workplace. It must ensure that the laws, contracts, decrees, and regulations applicable to employees are observed and implemented.
It negotiates works agreements with the university management and ensures they are upheld.
In addition, the Works Council offers a range of services for employees.
Every employee can contact the Works Council representative of their choice. The Works Council is bound to confidentiality and only represents individuals upon request. Please inform us about problems in your work areas as early as possible so that the Works Council can take timely action.
