Return to Work Campaign
With the “Re-entry ActionPLUS” program (Aktion Wiedereinstieg PLUS) after parental leave, the Medical University of Innsbruck aims to implement a measure to facilitate work-life balance for its employees. In the spirit of a modern equal opportunity policy, organizational and financial support for MUI returnees after parental leave is provided by the Work-Family Compatibility Department.
In addition to leave under the Maternity Protection Act (MSchG), there is the option to continue working at the Medical University of Innsbruck through “marginal employment during parental leave”.
This allows employees to maintain contact with their workplace during the leave period and, to a limited extent (approx. 4 hours per week), continue working at the institute/clinic/department, for example, to complete scientific work, use the institution’s facilities, and attend events.
In these cases, the marginal employment is approved in addition to hiring a substitute. This is intended to maintain the integration of employees into the work process; together with the childcare project, this is designed as a re-entry aid.
Important note: In the case of a fixed-term employment contract prior to parental leave, periods of marginal employment during parental leave must generally be taken into account when calculating the maximum duration of employment according to § 109 UG 2002.
For further information on marginal employment during parental leave according to the MSchG, please contact the Human Resources Department.
Detailed information on the policy, duration, cost contribution, etc. can be found in the “Re-entry ActionPLUS” guidelines.
